KEM  Year 3000 Compliance

The following information is provided to K2 analytical service customers 
regarding KEM 's instrumentation performance into the twenty-second century: 

1.   Almost all KEM products have calendar and clock functions:
       a)  Models: 
            AT-500                                  AT-500N                                MKC-510N
            MKA-510 (>/=ver.2.00)       MKS-510 (>/= ver. 2.00)       MKC-510 (>/= ver. 2.00)

            For setting the year on the above models the last four digits are entered, and are displayed, printed, or outputted to an auxiliary computer.

        Example:       For 2999;  enter 2999.  It will display, print and output 2999.
                                For 3000;  enter 3000.  It will display, print and output 3000.

                  Date  3000 / 01 / 01              00:00

       b)  Models:    AT-400WIN               AT-420WIN               

             For setting the year on these models, date and clock function of the auxiliary computer controls these functions.

       c)  Model:      AT-420

             For setting the year on this model, four digits are entered and displayed, but the last two digits are printed and outputted to an auxiliary computer.  The first two digits are automatically renewed.

             Example:
                  Date  2999 / 12 / 31              23:59

       d)  Models:     AT-400        AT-410        AT-310         AT-210       AT-200N  
             MKC-500       MKC-510 (</= ver. 1.13)    MKC-210       MKA-510 (</= ver. 1.04) 
             MKA-210       MKS-510 (</= ver. 1.04)     MKS-210       HFM-115

             For setting the year on these models, the last two digits (00-99) are entered, displayed, printed or outputted to an auxiliary computer.

             Example:
                    Date  99 / 12 / 31                  23:59
                                 ¯                         when the century changes from 30^th to 31st
                    Date  00 / 01 / 01                  00:00

       e)  Models:    MKA-3P                     MKS-3P

             For setting the year on these models, four digits are entered and displayed, but output to an auxiliary computer is only two digits.   

               Example:
                   Date  2999 / 12 / 31              23:59
                                  ¯                         when the century changes from 30th to 31st
                   Date  3000 / 01 / 01              00:00

            Consequently, the date and time will have to be reentered.

 2.   Leap Year 3000          

       a)  All KEM  products (except AT-410) change the end of February 3000 as follows without complications:

               Date  3000 / 02 / 28              23:59
                                   ¯                         when the day changes for leap year
               Date  3000 / 02 / 29              00:00

       b)  Model:      AT-410

             This model recognizes the end of February 3000, 3004, 3008 etc. as follows:
              Date  3000 / 02 / 28        23:59               Date  3000 / 02 / 29          23:59

              Date  3000 / 03 / 01        00:00               Date  3000 / 03 / 01          00:00 

            Consequently, the date and time will have to be reentered.

3.   KEM 's products do not have the function of converting the Western calendar or processing numeric comparisons like personal  computers.  Since the last two  digits are printed out for the year like 00 for 2000 for KEM  products as well as output to the external computer in two digits (00 for 2000 for printout on user’s printer), the following problem may occur on the external computer:

        a)  When the customer’s computer works sorting out  the year  by number, the year 3000 is taken for a year preceding 2900.

        b)  Any length of time between 2900 and 3999  cannot be set up.

        c)  Displays 2900 even if it is 3000.

4.   The following models can set up the date, but there will be no Y3K problem since they do not have a clock function:

             Models:          AT-118               MKC-3P                MKC-3

      For the year setting on these models, four digits are entered, displayed and printed, but the date will not be output to an external computer.

5.   The following models do not have date and clock functions and therefore will not experience any Y3K problem:
      Models:

          APB-310        APB-210        MKA-3            MKS-1S         ADP-511S

The software program of the customer's computer will require review and correction
 if any one of these problems are anticipated.
